About National Radiation Commission:

Brief explanation about the National Radiation Commission

The National Radiation Commission (NRC)
was established by an Act of Parliament from Radiation Act 5, 1983 and was declared a public corporate body on 22/07/1983. The Act provides for NRC's functions in relation to the control of the use of radioactive materials, radiation devices and for other matters related to the protection of persons from harm resulting from ionizing radiation.

Current researches

In co-operation with any person or body of persons within or outside Tanzania, the NRC have objectives to carry out, sponsor or facilitate the carrying out of research for the purpose of ensuring the increased use of atomic energy in Tanzania;

On going research
-Patient dose reduction on diagnostic x-ray services in Tanzania
-Study of radiation induced osteoporosis in Tanzania
-Environmental radiation levels in mine and milling
